Mallards

Mallards feeds on plants as well as on small animals in the shallows of 

ponds,marshes, lakes, and rivers. The male "Drake" is easily recognized 

by its iridescent green head, which is separated from the chestnut breast 

by a white ring around the neck; the body is white light gray and black. 

The female "Hen" is mottled dull and yellowish brown.
