A Day out 22 April 2012

A Day out 22 April 2012

The Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes)

Today I decided to go back to the place where I have taken photos of the Mouflon family
and on the way I spotted a little Red Fox on a field. As soon as the car stopped the Fox
took cover, he was curious and was keeping me under observation.

The Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes)

I was too far away from him to be able to get a good close up, but I was happy to
be able to see that he was in good shape and that his fur was thick and fluffy.
Some Foxes have unfortunatly caught a disease called sarcoptic mange,
however this little rascal looked fine to me, and that made me feel happy.

The Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes)

After a while when the both of us had looked at eachother the Red Fox turned away
and wanted to leave the field, perhaps he or she did not approve of the sound from
my camera.

I decided to continue after taking one final photo of the little Fox.

Common Buzzard (Buteo buteo)

Suddenly I noticed a Common Buzzard on another field, found a good place to stop the
car, the Buzzard flew away up to a tree, as I took this photo.

The Buzzard was too heavy for the small tip of the tree.

He was forced to find a better place.

I walked across the field to see if I could spot the White-tailed Eagle today.

The White-tailed Eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla)

After a short while starring at the grey sky I could see him.

The Mute Swan (Cygnus olor)

I also noticed a Mute Swan in the bay and just as I took this photo another bird
was passing him by. I am very unsure what kind of bird it was but it was a very
nice surprise to have caught them both on this shot.

The Mute Swan (Cygnus olor)

The Mute Swan was interested and thought perhaps that I was some kind of rival
I tried to have a look around to see if I could spot a mate, but I was unable to
see any other Swan in the nearby area.

The Great Tit (Parus major)

On the way back to the car I spotted this little Great Tit who was singing as I passed
him by. At this time of the year you can hear so many different birds singing.

The Mouflon ( Ovis Orientalis)
Arriving at the place where I have spotted the Mouflon family I imediatly discovered
that the little heard today was "two little ones, three females and one male with short horns"
so I think this could perhaps be another heard than before.

The Mouflon ( Ovis Orientalis)

The little ones are so qute one is lighter than the other, I cant help thinking that
pehaps one is female and the other little one is a male? I dont know so much about
Mouflon and they are not so common. I am truly looking forward to know more
about them.

The Canada Goose (Branta canadensis)

I walked down to the little bay at the lake and walked along the shore, after a while
I spotted two Canada Gooses.

They seemed very relaxed with having me near and I was able to take some shots
without hiding or staying behind a tree.

A lovely couple.

The Fallow Deer (Dama dama)

Before ending my day out I was lucky to meet this beautiful Fallow Deer, It was
amazing that he was calm and did not mind me being this close to him.

Before deciding to have a day out today I was thinking of how grey and overcast it was
outside and thinking of the high ISO I would get. I was happy and very content that I
decided to go anyway, since at the end of the day, It turned out to become a great day
out and was truly blessed with many exciting encounters with wild animals and birds.
I was more than content with the day but also very hungry after a long day out.
And I was curious and wanted to download the pictures to my computer and
then to share them here with you all.

Warm greetings to you all

Maria
